ACBW Comes to Santa Barbara

By now you know Sana Barbara has a rich beer scene, and we’re starting to celebrate it. Certified Cicerone Zach Rosen put in a lot of work to organize a handful of events for American Craft Beer Week, which begins on Monday. Check out the press release below:

American Craft Beer Week® to be celebrated in Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara, CA · May 8, 2013––From May 13-19, craft beer enthusiasts will come together in all 50 states to celebrate the eighth annual American Craft Beer Week (ACBW). This weeklong event honors the 2,400 small, independent brewers spread throughout the nation. ACBW contains more than 1,000 events held across the country and brings together beer enthusiasts, novices and professionals to honor the communal spirit that beer brings. At 5:00 p.m. PT (8:00 p.m. ET) on Thursday May 16, American Craft Beer Week Coast to Coast Toast will the first ever simultaneous nationwide toast to honor ACBW.

In Santa Barbara, members of the brewing community have come together to celebrate ACBW at craft beer-oriented establishments around town. The Santa Barbara beer industry invites and encourages the community to explore the American Riviera’s diverse and talented beer culture while taking part in this nationwide celebration of craft beer. The scheduled events and specials include:


May 13, Monday: ACBW Kickoff Event: Keg tapping of Old Rasputin XV Anniversary Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout and Beer Trivia by brewmaster Pete Johnson and Zachary Rosen, Certified Cicerone®

About Zachary Rosen

Zachary Rosen is a beer educator residing in Santa Barbara, CA. At 22, Rosen became the youngest person in the world to obtain the Certified Cicerone® (beer Sommelier) title. His specialty is coordinating and hosting beer events in addition to serving as a consultant, teacher and writer. Rosen works with a wide variety of organizations in Santa Barbara including restaurants, venues and non- profits companies. He uses his background in chemical engineering and the arts to seek out abstract expressions of beer, combining it with movies, music, and other conceptual counterparts to demonstrate how beer pairs with life.
